Overlea High School’s Winter Concert

The concert band at Overlea is currently preparing for their upcoming concert which is not only Christmas themed, but centralizes around a Maryland theme as well.
“The one Christmas song I chose for band is Oh Christmas Tree, and the reason I chose it is because it’s actually the Maryland state song,” said Ms. Sheeler, the band teacher at OHS. “The other one is Jingle Bell Tones. I chose it because the composer is from Maryland.”
The students at Overlea are excited for the concert coming up, and most plan to attend.
“I love the band. I used to be in it, so I know most of the people performing,” said Lacey Lawton (‘17). “I’m excited to see what they’re doing this year.”
Although the students in the band expressed a few concerns, all in all they are happy to be a part of the performance.
“Well, I love band… and it makes me upset that some kids want to quit,” said Amore Reese (’18), a flute player in the band. “But band is most definitely fun.”
Students can come out and support their school band on Wednesday, December 7th at 7Pm. Ms. Sheeler and the concert band hope to see you there!
